What a commercial interiors apprentice actually does

From day one, you work on real jobs alongside experienced fixers. There is no classroom-only phase. You are on site, learning how ceiling grids are set out, how tiles are measured and handled, how partition walls are built up, how dry lining is framed and boarded. You learn hand tools and power tools correctly, you follow safe working procedures on site, and you build practical knowledge that compounds across every programme you work on.

The work is varied. One week you might be on a college refurbishment installing acoustic ceiling tiles in a building that is still in use. The next you are on a retail shopfit that needs to be finished before the store reopens. The diversity of the programme is what makes commercial interiors a strong trade to enter.

The progression path

The apprentice-to-supervisor route is a real pathway at Eastledge. Apprentice to improver to fixer to supervisor: each step is earned through practical competence and reliability, not by moving to a different company. The progression takes three to five years depending on pace and programme opportunity.

This is not a theoretical pathway. It reflects how skilled fixers at Eastledge have built their careers within the business, and it is the route available to the right apprentice starting today.

Who we are looking for

No prior experience is needed. That is the point of an apprenticeship. What matters is a genuine interest in a practical, finishing-trade role, reliability, and a willingness to travel UK-wide with the team.

As Sean puts it: attitude and commitment matter more than a CV.

The role is open to applicants aged 16 and over. A UK driving licence is required for this role; applicants who do not yet hold a licence must be working toward obtaining one.
