Ecophon Installations
Acoustic ceiling and wall specialist, part of the Saint-Gobain group
We have installed Ecophon acoustic systems across UK commercial projects, including over 900 Ecophon Solo baffles for Glenair's Mansfield factory, Solo rafts at the Aston Student Union and Pioneer Park Dock 2, and Solo Rectangle rafts at the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery, across the offices, education, industrial and cultural sectors. Eastledge has held Ecophon approved installer status since 2009.
Who is Ecophon?
Ecophon is a Swedish acoustic ceiling and wall systems manufacturer, founded in 1958 and now part of the Saint-Gobain group of companies. The business specialises exclusively in interior acoustic products: ceiling tiles, free-hanging units, wall absorbers and integrated acoustic systems for commercial, education, healthcare and industrial environments. Its core product technology is glass wool, a high-absorption, low-density mineral fibre that delivers Class A acoustic absorption (αw 0.90 to 1.00) and a Euroclass A2-s1,d0 reaction-to-fire rating across most of its standard product range. Ecophon is one of the most-specified acoustic ceiling brands in UK education, healthcare and high-performance commercial construction, and one of Eastledge's most regularly installed manufacturer ranges across the past decade of projects.
Ecophon ranges Eastledge installs
We install across the Ecophon range, from the entry-level Gedina lay-in tile through to the bespoke Solo free-hanging units that anchor most of our higher-profile acoustic projects.
Ecophon Solo
Ecophon Solo is the free-hanging acoustic unit range: rectangles, squares, circles and bespoke shapes suspended from the structural soffit on hanging wires. Installed flat (raft orientation), Solo gives a clean ceiling-like aesthetic that exposes services above and absorbs sound from below. Installed vertically (baffle orientation), Solo delivers very high effective absorption per unit of floor area, the standard intervention in factories, sports halls and large-volume spaces with exposed structure. Our documented Solo projects include over 900 Ecophon Solo baffles in the Glenair Mansfield factory production hall, Solo rafts sloped to roof in the social space at the Aston Student Union, Solo rafts in the offices and Solo baffles in the corridors at Pioneer Park Dock 2 in Leicester, and Solo Rectangle rafts in the shoe gallery and cafe at the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery.
Ecophon Master
Ecophon Master is the high-performance grid ceiling system, engineered for spaces where peak acoustic absorption matters and the ceiling is the primary intervention. The system uses a concealed or exposed grid with high-density acoustic tiles that achieve Class A αw 1.00 across the speech frequency range. Master is specified in high-performance office meeting rooms, seminar and lecture rooms, music practice and recording-adjacent spaces, and healthcare consultation environments where speech privacy and reverberation control matter. Detailed perimeter and integration accessories let the system land cleanly into shadow-gap perimeters, recessed luminaire details and bulkhead conditions.
Ecophon Focus
Ecophon Focus is the lay-in acoustic ceiling tile range, the bread-and-butter Ecophon ceiling specification in UK commercial construction. Available in multiple edge details (A square edge, E tegular, F microlook, Ds and Dg downward-stepped) for different visual and integration requirements, Focus tiles drop into a standard 600 x 600 mm or 1200 x 600 mm exposed grid and deliver Class A or Class B absorption depending on the variant. Focus is used across general office fit-out, classrooms, retail and commercial environments where a coherent acoustic-ceiling specification is required without the cost or complexity of a free-hanging or feature system.
Ecophon Akusto
Ecophon Akusto is the wall-mounted acoustic panel range: fabric-wrapped absorbers in modular and bespoke sizes, available in a wide colour range. Akusto is used as wall-level acoustic intervention in spaces where ceiling absorption alone is constrained (exposed soffit, limited grid space) or where the absorber is also intended as a visual feature. Common applications include meeting rooms and consultation spaces, classrooms and seminar rooms, sports halls and large-volume environments, and restaurant and reception interiors.
Ecophon Gedina
Ecophon Gedina is the entry-level mineral fibre lay-in tile system, providing straightforward Class C and B absorption performance for projects where budget is the driver rather than peak acoustic specification. It is used in budget commercial fit-out, industrial office and welfare areas, and back-of-house retail and hospitality where a coherent acoustic-ceiling appearance is required at a price point below Focus.
Why specify Ecophon
Ecophon is the default specification on UK projects where acoustic performance is the brief, for a small number of well-understood reasons. Acoustic absorption is genuinely Class A across most of the standard product range: αw values of 0.90 to 1.00 are not aspirational marketing claims but published, tested performance. The product range covers every typical application (lay-in tiles, suspended grid systems, wall absorbers, free-hanging rafts and baffles) so a project can land its full acoustic strategy under a single manufacturer. Reaction-to-fire performance is typically Euroclass A2-s1,d0, the highest practical class for non-metallic interior products. Ecophon publishes Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its main ranges. Lead times on standard product are short, and the manufacturer's UK technical team is responsive on bespoke and modelling-led specifications. None of this is unique to Ecophon, as Rockfon and others compete strongly in the same segment, but Ecophon is one of the two or three brands that consistently appears on tested-system documents for high-performance UK acoustic specifications.
Sectors where Ecophon is most commonly specified
Ecophon products are most commonly specified in offices (Focus across general fit-out, Master in high-performance meeting rooms, Solo rafts in social and collaboration space), education (Focus and Master in classrooms and teaching spaces, Akusto wall absorbers in seminar rooms and sports halls, Solo rafts in higher education social space), healthcare (hygiene-grade Focus and Master in clinical and consultation areas, with hygiene-graded variants for infection-controlled environments), industrial environments (Solo baffles for production hall reverberation control), and cultural spaces (Solo rafts in galleries and museums where the brief calls for visible acoustic intervention with architectural integrity). Across our portfolio, Ecophon is one of the two or three most-installed acoustic brands.
Eastledge's documented Ecophon projects
Our documented Ecophon installations span the four sectors where the manufacturer is most commonly specified.
At Glenair in Mansfield, we installed over 900 Ecophon Solo acoustic baffles in the factory production hall, fitted before machinery installation as the acoustic foundation of the working environment, with absorption distributed across the volume to reduce reverberation under continuous machinery operation.
At the Aston Student Union in Birmingham, we installed Ecophon Solo rafts sloped to the roof in the main social space, combining acoustic intervention with the architectural form of the volume, paired with a Hunter Douglas solid linear timber ceiling to the ground floor.
At Pioneer Park Dock 2 in Leicester we installed Ecophon acoustic rafts in offices and Ecophon acoustic baffles in corridors, a coordinated absorption strategy across the complete office suite.
At the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery we installed Ecophon Solo Rectangle rafts in the shoe gallery and cafe, paired with Hunter Douglas Heartfelt as the architectural and acoustic finish to the main walkway.
At Barnsley College we delivered Ecophon ceiling and acoustic packages with main contractor GF Tomlinson.
