Three Nottingham ceiling projects: two universities and a community church

Three recent Nottingham projects in one summary: two on the University of Nottingham campus, one at a community church in the city. Suspended ceilings and acoustic panelling, three different manufacturers, three different briefs. Together they show how a ceiling and acoustic contractor has to respond to the room in front of them rather than apply one standard solution. The photography also records how the finished acoustic elements relate to lighting, existing services, room proportions and the ceiling plane, which is often where the practical quality of a fit-out is most visible.

Portland Building, University of Nottingham

The Portland Building project combined acoustic treatment with ceiling finishes in a teaching room. The confirmed systems included Ecophon Solo Sombre in black, Autex Nexus Beam in Honeydew and Flott 3D ceilings in River. Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham

At Jubilee Campus, the brief brought together acoustic wall panels, hanging baffles and suspended ceiling finishes across different education spaces. TVS Polysorb acoustic wall panels in Merrick, purple and blue add colour at wall level, while the photography shows hung baffles and ceiling work in black and white rooms. Seventh-day Adventist Church, Nottingham

The Seventh-day Adventist Church project was a community installation centred on a difficult angled suspended ceiling. The existing geometry created steep pitched planes and rooflight interruptions, with incomplete tile coverage visible in the before photography. The completed white modular ceiling follows those planes and forms a consistent finish around the rooflights.
